A former student in my Rhetoric 152AC class in the Fall of 2016 graduated in Spring 2018. I was fortunate to have Adam Iscoe in my course, and we maintained a professional relationship after my class, and through his graduation. In Spring 2018 he asked for a letter of support on behalf of his nomination for a prestigious academic award at the Berkeley campus, the Judith Lee Stronach Baccalaureate Prize. “The Judith Lee Stronach Baccalaureate Prize supports intellectual and creative pursuits that heighten awareness of issues of social consciousness and contribute to the public good. The award gives motivated students the opportunity to extend and reflect upon their undergraduate work at Berkeley by undertaking a special project after their graduation. Winning projects are creative in the broadest sense, explore themes of significant interest to holders of the Prize, and strive to further understanding of what constitutes humane and effective participation in our worldwide community.” Someday, Adam is going to be a leader in the field in Journalism, and I am grateful to have encountered him along the way of his journey.
